چکیده

The recent development of high-entropy alloys (HEAs) has opened a new avenue for alloy design by incorporating multiple principal elements into simple crystal lattice. In HEAs, short-range chemical ordering may arise due to the different mixing properties various constituent elements. this work, we explore trend elemental arrangement in five typical body-centered cubic (BCC) multi-principal element (MPEAs), including CrFeV, HfNbZr, TaVW, NbTaV, and TaTiV. Combining Monte Carlo method density-functional theory calculations, calculated evolution order (SRO) parameters these at 500 K. Our results demonstrated that all MPEAs might develop certain degree SRO, depending on pairs. Using modified quasi-chemical model, show SRO values can be accurately predicted as long enthalpy between atomic pairs are known. presence profound impact local structure MPEAs, which further alters electronic elastic MPEAs. provide theoretical understanding basic novel is an essential step toward tailoring their properties.

BCC-Splines: Generalization of B-Splines for the Body-Centered Cubic Lattice

Recently, the B-spline family of reconstruction filters has been generalized for the hexagonal lattice, which is optimal for sampling 2D circularly band-limited signals. In this paper, we extend this generalization to the body-centered cubic (BCC) lattice, which is optimal for sampling spherically band-limited 3D signals. We call the obtained new reconstruction filters BCC-splines. Although the...

Stability of body-centered cubic iron-magnesium alloys in the Earth's inner core.

The composition and the structure of the Earth's solid inner core are still unknown. Iron is accepted to be the main component of the core. Lately, the body-centered cubic (bcc) phase of iron was suggested to be present in the inner core, although its stability at core conditions is still in discussion. The higher density of pure iron compared with that of the Earth's core indicates the presenc...

Short-range ordering in face-centered-cubic Ni3AI

Ftis of fee NilAl with suppressed short-range order (SRO) were prepared by physical vapor deposition of N&Al onto room-temperature substrates. Extended electron energy-loss fine-structure spectra were obtained from both Al K and Ni h3 edges. After the samples were annealed for various times at 150 “C!, a moderate growth of SRO was observed in the first-nearest-neighbor environments of both the ...

Monte Carlo studies of directional pair ordering in disordered binary and ternary ferromagnetic BCC crystalline alloys

Magnetic field annealing can be used to induce uniaxial magnetic anisotropy in ferromagnetic alloys, which is often desirable, for example, to reduce core losses in materials of interest for high frequency inductive components in power conversion applications. An understanding of the compositional dependence of the uniaxial induced anisotropy constant KU is important to develop materials for su...

Clean Grain Boundary Found in C14/Body-Center-Cubic Multi-Phase Metal Hydride Alloys

The grain boundaries of three Laves phase-related body-center-cubic (bcc) solid-solution, metal hydride (MH) alloys with different phase abundances were closely examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and more importantly, electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) techniques. By using EBSD, we were able to identify the alignment of the crystallograp...
